House Addition - Roof

The framing of the rather complex roof was a challenge for the Hayes Construction carpenters, but they did a great job!

This view shows the addition's three parallel ridgelines (with ridge vents). The center ridge is centered over the screened porch, the left ridge is centered over the dining room, and the right ridge is centered over the family room. The two black triangles are "crickets," which shed water from the valleys between the ridges. Their pitch is too shallow for shingles, so they're covered with thick rubber-like sheets. See the Layout page for a view of what's under the roof. One of the skylights is also visible.
